Bizarro Dakota by Jerry BlueSky

The nice thing about being both a mad scientist AND a mage is that you don't have to wait for lightning, you can make your own.

Taking a break from badges and such to finish a piece I've been meaning to finish since last Halloween! Meet Bizarro Dakota, who was spawned from an AIM conversation with me buddy Lycanthrope a long time ago. He said something along the lines of "Hey, at least Dakota didn't stand in front of Lillian before she came alive yelling 'GIVE MY CREATION LIFE!'"

And thus, the mad scientist version, or Bizzaro version as I like to call him was born.

I have a feeling people are going to tell me he looks like Dr. Horrible...not that I mind, but I drew the original drawing a year before that came out...>.>

Happy (early) Halloween!

Medium: Flash, Adobe Photoshop
Tags: big gryphon lightning griffin Mad scientist switch huge
Moment in Paradise by Jerry BlueSky

Another "quickie"- Dakota and Lindsay being the lovegryphs they are, all preeny and snuggly.

I don't get to draw gryphons as much as I'd like to anymore. In fact, it's been such a while I've forgotten the old "on model" way to draw Dakota's crest, and am doing this more curved crest instead. Blame the Nambroth influence.

Actually, this whole picture can be blamed on getting her art book on Saturday. Does this look like her style? Sadly, yes, it does look too much like her style.

But I like it. :P

I used a combo of textures by Hibbary. I wish I can afford markers to do REAL MEDIA pictures like this on. I REALLY DO. But when a set of SEVEN costs $25 a pop that really ain't gonna work for me right now.

Medium: ink, Adobe Photoshop
Tags: gryphon griffin love snuggle gryphons griffins feathers luv preen Shock sucrose
Spread My Thunderwings and Fly by Jerry BlueSky

Hmmm. What to say about this one.

This is one of those "THIS SONG IS GIVING ME MENTAL IMAGES THAT I CAN'T GET OUT OF MY HEAD MUST PAINT" pictures. Even though I'm pretty sure that, if it means anything at all, TMBG's "Thunderbird" is about substance abuse, there's the phrase "spread my thunderwings and fly" that gave me images of wings made out of lightning. Maybe I just got the mental images because I'm kind of sick so I'm not really at my most sane.

Anyway, yeah. This has nothing to do with drugs or Lillian abusing electricity to get high a la Bender in Futurama and everything to do with...uh...I dunno. I've played with lots of different ideas of Lillian with "real" wings to fly with instead of hover and I finally decided, what would make more sense than a robot flying with electric wings?

Or maybe I should just not make pictures influences by phrases in TMBG songs.

Medium: Adobe Photoshop, openCanvas
Tags:
Itty Bitty Baby Dakota by Jerry BlueSky

Started this a year ago, and despite the fact I loved it, I never finished it. An itty bitty baaaaaaaby Dakota, complete with pinfeathers, tiny little forefeetses (maybe not accurate to birds, but cute as a button anyway) and mondo eagle fluff on his head. :D Very fun. I just wish I didn't draw it as small as I did. :(

Right now I have a drawing playing with the idea that Dakota was a lanky teenager. X) Heee.

Medium: graphite, photoshop tint
Tags: baby cute hatchling gryphon griffin dakota too
Snowbound by Jerry BlueSky

Did this a couple weeks back as a little holiday greeting for all the folks who follow my little webcomic AntiSocial Commentary. Luckily for Ron the platypus, webbed feet allow her to walk on -top- of snow while poor Lillian gets buried. X)

Style inspired by Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, as if you can't tell.
Proper Cat Elects to Have a Cheeseburger by Jerry BlueSky

An image I made with the idea of making it a T-shirt, but I tossed it aside as it was too much of a niche joke. I still like it artistically, to be honest. The offcenter colours are fun.

Come and follow me...to wherever the light breaks through...
Come and follow me...and soon you'll be dancing, too
In your eyes I see
You're alive as me
So whenever I'm lost then I can follow you!

Rrrrr...if you know where that song comes from don't say it or else I'll be really embarrassed. >.> JUST ENJOY THE PURTY PICTURE IT INDUCED.

Boing! by Jerry BlueSky

Just a leetle style experiment I did for meself since I've been doing waaaaaaay too much stuff not for myself besides my comic, seeing if I can draw my Jerry as a sort of Don Bluth-style character, since that style is one of those I've admired so much. People seemed to have gotten my intention right away, so I think I got it figured out.

This was too fun a style to draw in, I found. X) I love the faux-cel look too much, can you tell?

Medium: Flash, Adobe Photoshop
Tags: coyote doomyote jerry don fluff bounce bluth
More textured goodness, in the same theme as the last one. What's not to love about a giant eagle that flaps its wings and causes thunder and lightning?

In Hiding by Jerry BlueSky

Cheer up, emo yote!

Okay, seriously...I was trying to illustrate something that I've realized I've been doing...I drew Jerry's hair more like my hair the way it is now- covering my eyes so they're hidden, like Violet in The Incredibles. For some reason when I had cut my hair to that length and parted it, I felt safer with my eye hidden. I'm so shy, it was my protection...

Funny thing is, with Jerry/ DoomYote, it's compounded with her sunglasses...and Jeff Lynne, who her sunglasses are inspired by, ended up wearing his 24/7 to sort of "hide". Doomy did it because she was a fanyote...but it's sort of an odd irony in this picture.

Also wanted to see if I could do a really realistic "anthro" Jerry. She's mostly meant to be made of fluff, scruff, and froof, and I think this picture shows it.

Medium: graphite, photoshop tint
Tags: coyote doomyote jerry bluesky hiding shyness
Latitude 88 North by Jerry BlueSky

Now I'm left out in the cold
But the story's far from told
It's such a lonely world...

A few weeks ago, when Mid-Missourah was covered in snow and ice and the new ELO single, Latitude 88 North was about to launch on iTunes (although only in the UK- BOO!) I got the urge to paint some snow with some bright blue and yellow clouds, despite all the art owed.

So I did.

That is a Jerry DoomYote there, just in her most natural looking incarnation. We hardly recognize ya, Jerry. XD

More OpenCanvas goodness.

Medium: openCanvas
Tags: coyote snow clouds
.angelsfallwithoutyouthere. by Jerry BlueSky

Comin down the world turned over
And angels fall without you there...

Dakota's dream.

The Goo Goo Doll's song "Black Balloon" is so beautiful, and I can't help but latch onto certain phrases from the song; despite the fact I know the song is about loosing someone to a herion addiction as opposed to anything that happens to my stories.

So while the song doesn't fit these two character's stories that well, the picture...is really just the mental image I get, nothing more. I imagine they were skydancing much in the way bald eagle's mating rituals go, with talons clasped. Then daylight comes...and she's gone.

Open Canvas 3 from scratch. I just needed to get a painting out to satisfy myself between all the flat colour commissions, really. Digipaint is my friend. *nods*

Medium: OpenCanvas3
Tags: clouds gryphons griffins dakota sunrise lindsay angels
Do Not Bite the Robot by Jerry BlueSky

Lillian and zee Ron make a return to comic format. This is probably the first time the masses have seen Ron in a long time actually. She's a girl, BTW, and a platypus, NOT a duck.

I dunno, I still have that old comic gear kicking, it's been acting up more than usual lately. Who knows what may happen. :)

Medium: ink, Adobe Photoshop
Tags: Me comic lillian robot platypus dakota bite ron
Placing the Stars by Jerry BlueSky

Yet another image of the mythical Coyote placing the stars, but this time not in were-style. I was following Shayde's textured collage tutorial since I love the style half to death, making my own tweaks along the way as I did this. I'm actually pretty fond of it. (Fond enough that a larger version is my desktop. XD)

Medium: Adobe Photoshop
Tags: night coyote mythology Moon sky stars
Your body has been damaged and replaced, you have been mocked, pushed, and manipulated to take advantage of a gryphon's already easily sparked temper...but you are still who you were before all this.
The Gryphon's Legacy by Jerry BlueSky

Image that was intended to only be little that grew...and grew...and grew...and I decided it might as well make a nice 3-year-anniversery peice for my "Legacy" storyline.

(Still dunno what the heck I'm gonna call the series. "Legacy" is really just a codename than anything, and "The Gryphon's Legacy" sounds like generic fantasy. :b)

Medium: pencil, adobe photoshop
Tags: sunset gryphon griffin clouds mountain lillian robot legacy dakota
